Daily Reading Programme: Mon journal de lecture
Daily
reading to or with your child is an important extension of our daily classroom
literacy activities. I have been always encouraging my students to read at home
on a daily basis.
Starting
from today, November 4th, your child will be bringing home one book every day to read and
share with you. It will be your child’s job to read and record that story in
their
“
Journal de lecture”. S/he will need to record the title of the book, a new word
they learned from this book, the word (-s) that they can read, and if they like
or dislike the book. Please have your child print all this information beside
the appropriate date. You can then acknowledge their success with your
signature. I also advise that your child read one-two pages aloud every
night.
If
your child is successful in completing the task weekly and brings his/her
Journal de lecture back to class every Monday, he/she will receive and award at
the end of the month.
Also,
I strongly encourage YOU to read to him/her every night. If you can do this in
French, it will be perfect! However, reading in English or in the language that
you speak in your family is good as well. It is also important to discuss the
stories read.
Enjoy
this time together!
