Inukshuk dans Norte Classe

This week, we read a book about Inukshuk. Students enjoyed the story that not only revealed the significance of this signature of the canadian landscape but also made them understand why Inukshuk is so special. The story made us think about ourselves. Each and everyone of us is special in a way because we bring something unique to this world. It was amazing to hear students share their ideas about why they are special.
Later, we decided to make our own special Inukshuk. We used boxes from tissues that we had collected earlier. Some math had to be done as we needed to know how many boxes we needed to implement our project. That involved counting, addition, revising place value. It turned out that the Inukshuk had 27 boxes to be constructed with!
To continue, every student worked with a partner to create a design and a model for the future Inukshuk. Cubes were very helpful!  We came up with 8 designs from which students chose the winner. Angie and Isaak's design won.
Thanks to teamwork,  a very lovely Inukshuk appeared at the end of project Day 2. Just have a look!
